Gavin Cooper click to email Gavin Cooper is a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives, who started his Legal career some 35 years ago with a small firm in Lincolns Inn Fields where for the first few two or three years, he carried out a variety of tasks from Debt Collection to Wills, Probate, Matrimonial and Property. Having realised that he hadn't quite got the hang of dealing with the collection of debts - due to the fact that he listened to every hard luck story told to him by the debtor and getting bored with disputes in divorces over such things as to who was going to keep the Christmas decorations, he concentrated his attention on Property and has continued to do so for over 30 years.
In 1979 Gavin moved to a large City practice and spent 3 years specialising in Commercial Property, acting for one of the UK's largest Property Companies, an International Confectioner and one of Britain's leading Insurance brokers which gave him invaluable experience.
The opportunity to increase his experience saw Gavin move to Carpenters in 1982 and he has remained there ever since, as he found he particularly liked dealing with his clients personally. Gavin now concentrates on all types of property transactions including dealing with a high turnover of Residential Conveyancing, Business Acquisitions, New Business Leases, the preparation of Leases and Renewals, Investment Purchases for a large number of private investors, Refinancing of Property, Acquisition of Building Land and disposals, preparation and approval of Option Agreements, Advice for Management Companies and Residents' Associations and the Buying and Selling of Licensed Premises.
Away from work, Gavin juggles family life, including the taxiing duties for his three children, with many interests including his 47 year support for his beloved football team "the Saints", the Chairmanship of the Junior section of the Old Midwhitgiftians RFC, a governor of one of the Local Grammar schools. His former association with Wallington and Carshalton Round Table still sees him attend 41 club and being involved with the Carshalton Fireworks and Carnival and despite the handicap of not being able to play, sees him hacking around the local Golf courses occasionally.
